Isabel Pinot Noir 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Isabel Estate Vineyard was established in 1982 to produce premium classical grape varieties in Marlborough. Prior to the 1994 vintage, Proprietor Michael Tiller, then an airline pilot with Air New Zealand, together with his wife Robyn, operated Isabel Estate successfully as a contract grape growing vineyard supplying some of Marlborough's leading wine producers with much sought after premium fruit. The character and individuality of their fruit derived from a unique soil profile and vineyard location encouraged them to produce and market their own wine under the Isabel Estate label. This was regarded as the most natural of evolutionary steps. This is a robust Pinot Noir. Dark medium garnet colour, with elegant primary fruit characters, ripe plums, strawberry and cranberry as well as chocolate and spiced notes with balanced oak. It is most cetainly a voluptuous wine - with enticing aromas and alluring depth. A full bodied wine with structure, complexity and beautiful mouth feel. Already charming in its youth, this wine will offer even more with time; cellar 5-8 years.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
