Iron Horse Vineyards Chardonnay Green Valley Estate Bottled 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Rued Clone is a more floral and exotic clone of Chardonnay. Its rich and complex character may well change your perception of Chardonnay. The Rued Clone is “native” to Green Valley. According to Dan Berger, it’s an exceptional wine: “a lot going on in this crisp, lean and focused cold climate Chardonnay, one of California’s finest.”

Continue down the hill, across a small bridge, past the vegetable gardens, up a winding oak lined drive, between a row of alternating palm and olive trees and finally to the charming Iron Horse Winery, where you will enjoy a stunning view all the way across Sonoma County to Mt. St. Helena. The winery is best known for its Sparkling Wines. The Obama Adminstration is the fifth consecutive presidental administration to serve Iron Horse at the White House, a tradition that began in 1985 with the historic U.S.-Russian Summit Meetings ending the Cold War. The Chardonnay is cool climate perfection. Pinot Noir is the winery’s rising star wine. Read less

This wine beautifully expresses the bright, focused, clean, sweet-tart flavors of cool, foggy Green Valley. It is beautifully balanced, imparting a delightful leesy , toasty, perfectly integrated bar

This wine beautifully expresses the bright, focused, clean, sweet-tart flavors of cool, foggy Green Valley It is beautifully balanced, imparting a delightful "leesy", toasty, perfectly integrated barrel character that doesn't overwhelm the fruit The texture is soft, smooth, silky and sensuous The finish is long and lingering Enjoy with corn soup, rainbow trout, sole, halibut with mushrooms and asparagus, salmon, steamed lobster, lemon roast chicken served with jasmine rice, veal chop, anything with a cream sauce, goat cheese, walnuts - in other words, as often as possible

Minerality with a hint of lees. On mouth intense minerality and mandarin orange.

Tasting Notes:

By nose, honeysuckle, peaches, grapefruit and lime; by mouth, Tahitian lime, grapefruit marmalade and tangerine; mouthfeel, medium body which balances well with the bright acidity. Pair with anything cooked in butter, such as fried or scrambled eggs (hold the bacon), and butter poached fish.
