Drive past the berry farms on Ross Station Road, past the point where you can’t imagine there’s anything at the end of the road, crest the knoll and be awestruck as the view opens up to 350 acres covered with grape vines. Continue down the hill, across a small bridge, past the vegetable gardens, up a winding oak lined drive, between a row of alternating palm and olive trees and finally to the charming Iron Horse Winery, where you will enjoy a stunning view all the way across Sonoma County to Mt. St. Helena. The winery is best known for its Sparkling Wines. The Obama Adminstration is the fifth consecutive presidental administration to serve Iron Horse at the White House, a tradition that began in 1985 with the historic U.S.-Russian Summit Meetings ending the Cold War. The Chardonnay is cool climate perfection. Pinot Noir is the winery’s rising star wine. Read less

8 years on the yeast Relaxed on the nose which is broad with baked orange, lime, floral, carnations, and a little freshly baked bread. A touch sweet but cleans and fresh on the palate with lovely precision to the high toned and lemony, subtle complexity on the midpalate and gentle tones of raw nuts on the soft finish. elegant and gentle. 91pts

Nicely perfumed with white floral notes, heather, mineral and apple fruit notes. In the mouth this shows significant acids and a very moderate dosage that allows the fine mousse and nicely developed, citrussy fruits to dominate the mid-palate. Delicate and bright with cleansing acids on the finish this shows good poise. 91pts

The most traditional of the Iron Horse Sparklings. A classy blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay aged an average of four years on the yeast in the bottle. Wonderfully rich and creamy it sends all kinds of memory bells that say `champagne` though the fruit is unmistakably Sonoma County-Green Valley. It is vintage quality in every sense of the word.
