Iron Horse Brut Green Valley Classic Vintage 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

92 points Wine Spectator: Lovely floral aromas lead to a complex yet elegant wine, offering crisp apple and citrus fruit, with notes of pear, fresh almond and yeasty brown spices. Drink now through 2014. 2,225 cases made. (12/15/10) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: Mineral tension cuts through the generous, creamy texture of this wine and lasts, the complex finish showing toasty richness and impressive length. Delicious with Nantucket Bay scallops or other fruits de mer. (Dec 2010)

Continue down the hill, across a small bridge, past the vegetable gardens, up a winding oak lined drive, between a row of alternating palm and olive trees and finally to the charming Iron Horse Winery, where you will enjoy a stunning view all the way across Sonoma County to Mt. St. Helena. The winery is best known for its Sparkling Wines. The Obama Adminstration is the fifth consecutive presidental administration to serve Iron Horse at the White House, a tradition that began in 1985 with the historic U.S.-Russian Summit Meetings ending the Cold War. The Chardonnay is cool climate perfection. Pinot Noir is the winery’s rising star wine. Read less

This bottling spent 4 years on the lees before disgorging. This adds a notable complexity that will impress. Made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

By nose: Meyer lemon and Filbert nut. By mouth: ripe red apple, yeast and a touchof lemon zest. Best when served with food, pair with anything spicy, salted or fried. Great with French fries, popcorn, chips and salsa, potato chips and onion dip and grilled steak
