Inver House 'Green Plaid' Very Rare Scotch Whisky Premier
I'm a Scotch drinker but I can't afford to drink single malt all the time. I have tried most of the bottom tier Scotches. I've been drinking this one lately, it's usually $17.99 for a 1.5L or $11.99 for a liter. It's one of the cheapest out there. It's drinkable, no need to try to dress it up and look for all the subtle notes on the palate. It's light, slightly sweet, not much smoke or anything. It's my Scotch and soda whiskey. Some other Scotches worth looking into in this range are Duggan's Dew, Old Smuggler and Clan MacGregor (which here in CT is the most prominent cheap Scotch around, it's everywhere). Though if you're willing to spend a little more but still less than JW Red or Dewar's (which is so overpriced and overrated in my opinion it's ridiculous) try Grant's or White Horse. White Horse is actually very good for the money. Here it's usually about $16.99 a .750. Grant's is usually about a buck cheaper. White Horse uses some malt from Lagavulin so it's got some smoke and some complexity. They used to use a lot more in the blend years ago. And what ever happened to Harvey's Scotch!? That was my first cheap Scotch I used to drink years ago. It was like $10.99 a liter (this is 10+ years ago) and had a real simple white label that just had HARVEY'S in black lettering on it. Anyone know it it's still around? Apparently not here in CT.
very good scotch for a very low price.... i have never had a bad scotch though so you may want to go by a more experienced connessuier. I think it's delicious, it's definitely drinkable strait.
When I first had it i was very impressed. I was expecting to cringe but low and behold.....it was good....Didn't have a bad aftertaste and was surprisingly smooth. I'm a big fan of bang for your buck and Inverhouse delivers. This is hard to find locally for me though. I have, however, found that another very inexpensive Scotch gets my nod....Clan MacGregor is smoother and I prefer it over Inverhouse. Doing multiple back to back taste tastes at different times.... Clan MacGregor wins hands down for me. I will add that Inverhouse has a nicer note when compared to the two, while Clan has a smoother finish. Inverhouse's slightly challenging finish can be easily toneed down with a little water and ice. Enjoy!
Its 1 of the best scotch u can buy and it tastes great mix with milk
I'm relatively new to the scotch scene, but have primarily consumed Johnny Walker Red (which is my favorite), and Tomatin Black (which is a bit harsh to my taste). I picked up a bottle of Inver House, for $9.00 at the PA Wine and Spirits Shoppe, not quite sure what to expect. What I found was a surprisingly light and unoffensive scotch, light in color, but slightly smoky and a bit buttery. it's not terribly complex, but excellent for the price.
