The grapes for this wine come from our very own hand tended, 100 year old head pruned and dry farmed vineyard in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley; producing a distinctive wine rich with fruit flavors.
From our “Front Yard” vines I can always pick this wine out blind because of its distinctive nose. This vintage, like our 2004 vintage has less bay, cardamom and white pepper and more black cherry and cranberry. What continues to make me excited about this wine is that it has a great tannic structure along with an alcohol content that’s under 14%; meaning that it will age nicely for many years, and that you can easily share a bottle at dinner without feeling the effects of the alcohol. These 100 year old vines produce a wine very different from that of our Alexander Valley Zinfandel; this wine could take the place of Cabernet Sauvignon when pairing it with food.
