Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir 2009
The 2008 season, with long warm summer days and cool nights, produced fruit with ideal ripeness and sugar balance. Vineyard sites are selected for their high diurnal temperature range, resulting in wines with high natural acidity and low pH. All fruit was hand harvested. This super Pinot has a nose of dark cherries, cranberry juice, fresh raspberries, nutmeg, cinnamon, truffles, with underlying meaty, wet earth and mushroom characters. The palate is juicy, succulent fresh berries with a slippery, rich and slightly tart finish. Pair this with char grilled quail and rosemary, Peking duck pancakes or prosciutto.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
A little acidic and tastes a bit underripe. Could use some age on it. There's an herbal note that might turn out OK in a couple of years. I wouldn't not finish the glass if poured for me though...
