Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2008 season, with long warm summer days and cool nights, produced fruit with ideal ripeness and sugar balance. Vineyard sites are selected for their high diurnal temperature range, resulting in wines with high natural acidity and low pH. All fruit was hand harvested. This super Pinot has a nose of dark cherries, cranberry juice, fresh raspberries, nutmeg, cinnamon, truffles, with underlying meaty, wet earth and mushroom characters. The palate is juicy, succulent fresh berries with a slippery, rich and slightly tart finish. Pair this with char grilled quail and rosemary, Peking duck pancakes or prosciutto.

An experienced vigneron counting over 20 years in the Australian wine industry, Phil Sexton relocated from the warm, coastal region of Margaret River to the gravelly slopes of Victoria’s Yarra Valley in the late 1990s to pursue cool climate viticulture. Beyond the pristine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir he was able to produce in the Valley, Phil discovered a number of vineyards in far flung corners of Victoria that inspired him to explore regional diversity in this small state. Thus the Innocent Bystander label was created, and his talented winemaking team tasked with delivering a range of wines with a personality all their own: distinctly regional, varietally expressive and definitely not your run of the mill blends. nice light fruity assie pinot - served it chilled with a teriyaki and maple syrup marinated BBQ salmon. Very nice pinot at this price point.

Garnet red, translucent at the center with pale rhubarb towards the rim indicates an elegant style of pinot awaits. Aromatically, the wine is quite fragrant with surprising complexity! Dark cherries abound on the nose while earthy, spicy notes add in... Chuck Hayward. A Pinot Noir wine from Victoria in Australia. 2008 Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir 750ml

Sweet and floral with perfumes of strawberries, violets and toffee apples. Medium body with a velvety mouth feel. Soft, round and supple tannins. Hints of cranberries and raspberry licorice.
