User Reviews for Ingrid's Chardonnay

Winemaker's Notes:

The warm, beautiful 2004 vintage had us picking our Ingrid's Chardonnay much earlier than normal, on September 2nd and 3rd. However even in a warm year, Ingrid's vineyard in mid-Carmel Valley retains a crisp natural and a bright fruity style. Our 2004 has developed a beautiful bottle bouquet exhibiting notes of ripe apple and pear mingled with aromas of crème brûlée. On the palate, the flavors of citrus and tropical fruits are supported by a crisp acidity making this a very food-friendly wine, perfect for drinking throughout the coming year. All Bernardus Chardonnays are fermented in small lots using several different yeast strains including a portion of native yeast. This gives is us a variety of styles from which to make the final blends We also hand stir each barrel (bâttonnage) every three weeks to build mouthfeel and increase complexity. Appellation: Carmel Valley Cooperage: 100% French oak, 35% of which is new Coopers: François Frères, Cadus, Sirugue and Dargaud & Jaegle Case Production: 493
