With many stylistic similarities to the much heralded sauvignon blancs of New Zealand, South Africa's many well-priced, crisp and refreshing versions of that terrific variatal are fast gaining in popularity (as evidenced by our rapidly expanding South African section). This pretty white shows all the rich passion fruit and zesty gooseberry you've come to expect from this grape, at a price that's hard to beat. A perpetually great match for seafood of all stripes.
Crisp grass and lemon notes, with a lively finish. Drink now.
Good lime and sweet pea flavors, with a nice hint of straw too. Clean and fresh. Drink now.
The 2000 Sauvignon Blanc reveals Thai lemon grass and roasted green pepper aromas and flavors. This light to medium-bodied, silky-textured wine has appealing richness and freshness to its flavorful, spicy, and easygoing character. A lovely quaffing wine, it should be consumed over the next 18 months.
The nose has a dry almond note and a touch of green in addition to the expected citrus. The green fades in the mouth in favor of melon and citrus with a touch of mineral. A wine with good intensity, nice body and backing acidity. Nothing stands out, making this a well-balanced quaff.
