Indaba Merlot 2009
This supple Merlot displays lip smacking aromas and flavors of ripe cherry, plum and chocolate, with notes of exotic spice and a slight hint of smoke. Versatile and approachable, it pairs well with pizza, pasta dishes, burgers and barbecued pork. Fermentation occured in stainless steel tanks, with pumpovers of one hour performed twice daily. The wine was pressed after 5 days and was oak aged for 6 months.

The Indaba 2007 Merlot offers a mouth-filling and seamlessly ripe, if relatively light-bodied rendition of this ubiquitous variety, featuring ripe cherry, beet root, dark chocolate, and licorice. The finish hints at the wine's six grams of residual sugar and 14.5% alcohol, but by no means in any obvious or imbalanced way.
A lovely nose, delicately perfumed with plum, cherries and flowers, is followed by elegant, approachable flavors of plum, smoke, mocha and blackberry. An all-around good red that will pair well with duck and soft cheeses.

The ruby-colored 2000 Cape Indaba Merlot has a nose reminiscent of Pinot Noir, filled with red cherries and Asian spices. This light to medium-bodied Merlot exhibits sweet red fruit and hoisin sauce flavors. It is structured, somewhat foursquare, but appealingly flavorful and forward.
Lightly bodied with very well done flavors of blackberry and plum. Slightly spicy and a touch earthy. Try with barbecue or light cheeses.
