Indaba Merlot 2008
External Reviews for Indaba Merlot
Fresh, medium-weight grape and berry flavors, with a slightly dusty finish. Drink now.
The Indaba 2007 Merlot offers a mouth-filling and seamlessly ripe, if relatively light-bodied rendition of this ubiquitous variety, featuring ripe cherry, beet root, dark chocolate, and licorice. The finish hints at the wine's six grams of residual sugar and 14.5% alcohol, but by no means in any obvious or imbalanced way.
A lovely nose, delicately perfumed with plum, cherries and flowers, is followed by elegant, approachable flavors of plum, smoke, mocha and blackberry. An all-around good red that will pair well with duck and soft cheeses.
Fresh and juicy, with ripe blackberry and plum fruit and notes of mocha and toast. Soft, easy finish. Fine value. Drink now.
Lightly bodied with very well done flavors of blackberry and plum. Slightly spicy and a touch earthy. Try with barbecue or light cheeses.
Aromas of blue and black berries with just a hint of chocolate mint. Wood tannins slightly firm, expected to soften up with age.
The ruby-colored 2000 Cape Indaba Merlot has a nose reminiscent of Pinot Noir, filled with red cherries and Asian spices. This light to medium-bodied Merlot exhibits sweet red fruit and hoisin sauce flavors. It is structured, somewhat foursquare, but appealingly flavorful and forward.
