Il Valore Chianti Riserva Marchese de Petri 2005
I get this at Trader Joe's in Cincinnati for about $8. I think it is a great wine for dinner. I make Italian chicken sandwiches or pizza on the the grill and the smokey flavor really goes well with this wine. It is better than a lot of more expensive Chianti I've had.Add winemaker's notes

For the price, this is a really great wine. At first, it's really harsh, but after a few minutes of breathing, it's just great. Very smooth. I found the flavor to be a lot better than some $10 wines I've had.
At Trader Joe's in NYC, this wine is priced at $5.99 w/o taxes. For the price (and I'm assuming it's cheaper elsewhere) you can't beat this! Can be simple table wine or..daily drink-over-whatevers. It goes down so smoothly. If you ask me yes I prefer more sophisticated, refined Barberas, but hey seriously for this cheap? You can't complain.
