Hugel et Fils White Blend Alsace Aoc Gentil 2008
RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
Three years ago I was in Riquewihr and did a winetasting by Hugel. I like their wines very much because they taste very chrisp. Their gentil is a blend of white wine grapes.
I had this wine with a variety of cheese served very cold. It is my opinion that this wine is an excellent companion for cheese and full-bodied crustaceans.

This dry white revives an ancient Alsace tradition that wines assembled from noble grape varieties were called "Gentil". This allies the spicy flavour of Gewurztraminer, the body of Pinot Gris, the finesse of Riesling, the grapiness of Muscat and the refreshing character of Sylvaner. It is a great match for pâté or trout.
