Gentle, elegant, and balanced white Alsace with most of the features that give the region its unique taste signature. Needs a bit of air time to open up. Nose of sour melon, mineral, and mild rubber with hints of citrus and petrol. Opens gently with mild flavors of pear, citrus or sour melon, and poultry fat along with hints of flowers and strong mineral undertones. Glycerin feel in the mouth with medium body, medium acid. Finishes with a sour "pucker factor" wrapped in mineral with a hint of fruit and petrol. Quite good QPR. Not too acidic. Tested at 72 deg F. What a treat. Try with slightly spiced shellfish in a light reduction sauce.

Gentil has become a joyous, convivial wine whose arrival the Hugel family always awaits with impatience in the spring following each vintage. Gentil shows pure, fresh aromas, very fruit-driven and floral, as well as expressive and flattering. On the palate, this dry wine has a lively, youthful fresh character that is refreshing, with a pleasant, scented finish. Gentil is a perfect wine to sip with friends or to enjoy with simple everyday meals. Gentil is best enjoyed chilled with saltwater and freshwater fish, shellfish, starters and hors d'oeuvres. - Winery

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes A blend of Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Sylvaner. Very youthful color, lively and crystal-clear, with pale green and lemon yellow pastel hints. This image is faithfully reproduced on the nose, perfectly aromatic, frank, sincere, revealing a palette of fruit and floral nuances that can only be found in blend of Alsace grapes : green apple, pear, white peach, banana, pineapple, lychee, and a profusion of spring flowers, rose, freesia and a subtle touch of muscatel. On the palate it is dry, lively, joyfully crisp and clear, and exactly as it should be : refreshing and easy to enjoy. Its finish is fleeting but firm, and another sip is instinctively called for. Drink it now or within 2 years.
