Rating: 87/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. If not quite as deep as last year's two-star offering, this wine is clearly a member of the same oversized family. Its 15.5% stated alcohol provides for a full-bodied, fleshy feel on the palate, and its surprising polish allows it to have a silky texture that is easy to like. We would be happier to partner it with long-cooked meats like braised short ribs or Texas Barbecued Beef Brisket than we would to serve it with steaks or chops.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.

A dense ruby purple color, the wine reveals a gorgeous intense bouquet of jammy ripe cherry, blackcurrant, and blackberry interspersed with sweet vanilla, lavender, cedar, and smoky oak. Very rich and full-bodied, this wine offers the same bold fruit impressions on the palate. The mouth feel is creamy, with gorgeous tannins, which lead to a long finish.
