Hug Cellars Syrah Central Coast 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

Winemaker's Tasting Notes: A blend of some of our favorite Syrah vineyards on the Central Coast. This wine is a younger cousin to our single vineyard Syrah's. For those of you who enjoy the European style of wines, this one is for you. This wine exhibits intense blueberry and blackberry, white pepper and lavender. It is a great match with food, with its high acid and lower alcohol. The 2004 Central Coast Syrah is a perfect accompaniment with roasted meats like beef and lamb, but would also go great with hamburgers and pizza. Enjoy now or over the next 12 years. Technical Notes: Appellation: Central Coast TA: 7.1 pH: 3.35 Aging: 16 months Cooperage: 100% French - 10% new Alcohol: 13.8% Production: 360 Cases Return to Hug Cellars Wine List

We established Hug Cellars in 1994, following a successful run as proprietors of the Central Coast Wine Room in Harmony, California. Our first vintage, made under the thoughtful guidance of our friend John Alban (Alban Vineyards), yielded 87 cases of Edna Valley-designated Syrah. At the time, we continued to run our retail shop, and were making wine on a part-time basis, thanks to the generosity of John and Lorraine Alban, who allowed us to make our wines at Alban Vineyards. In the year 2000, both of us decided to make a full-time commitment to Hug Cellars and to our future as proprietors of a small, family-owned winery. Since that time, we have devoted ourselves and our resources entirely to this soulful endeavor. We’ve never looked back, even though punch-downs at 3:00 AM can get tiresome. We love to make wine, surrounded by the scent of the fruit and the earth. 16 years have passed since our first harvest. We would like to share our familiy's passion and art with you. Discover for yourselves the flavors we've learned to coax from the fruit of the vines. We now invite you to join us on our journey. We’re so fortunate to have discovered a deep love for wine and nature, and we invite you to share that discovery with us. Read less

A fruit-forward and seductive Syrah that\'s hard to beat for this price.
