Huët Vouvray Moëlleux le Mont 1957

Winemaker's Notes:

"The dark golden-yellow 1957 Vouvray le Mont Moelleux was Gaston Huet's first Le Mont at all since he acquired the lieu-dit in that year. Aged 58 and from a good year for all styles, the bouquet is still intense and very elegant in its clear, precise and monaural-scented ripe and concentrated fruit flavors of stewed yellow-fleshed fruits like ripe peaches and nectarines. Intense, fresh and almost dry on the very mineral, elegant, finesse-full, pure and piquant palate, the '57 finishes slightly austere in the first moment. Probably this is not the finest bottle but it is full of life, vibration and tension, and the finish is really long and powerful. A very gastronomic wine of great vitality that should be decanted for several hours. When I came back to the bottle 16 days later (yes, 16 days), it was even better than the first day. A really stunning, vivacious and great reflection of the flinty terroir of Le Mont...94" Stephan Reinhardt, WA 11/15
