Hudson Chatham Baco Noir 2010
This wine comes from vines that are more than 60 yearsold. The berries are dark and ripe. The wine is all handmade, and unfiltered and unfined. It’s aged in French oak barrels. The major profile of this wine is it’s deep dark sour cherry flavor, with hints of plum and prune, and big whiffs of vanillan and fallen leaves. A medium palate wine, this is a soft approachable red that has become one of the sigature wines of the Hudson-Chatham stable. The wine has been featured in such places as the New York Cork Report, Beverage Media, the Fussy Little Blog, the Hudson Valley Wine Goddess, and many other places. Served in numerous restaurants from NYC to Albany. A classic red drawing quickly drawing an avid fan base.

Lightly scented with notes of black plum, grape and wood spice topped with a touch of muskiness and a touch of dried cilantro. Bright on entry, this is medium bodied with a nice base of supple tannins. The fruit is fairly intense, picking up the black plum notes from the nose, yet a touch simple. More wild plum notes on the palate are joined by well-measured oak and blackberry notes that lead to the light, fresh black-fruited finish. Very well done in a style that gently recalls Northern European red wines. Very gluggable. 85pts
A bit peppery, with a dark, black raspberry color. A little chalky yet juicy, with bits of strawberry and watermelon. Very light tannins with a long, mouth-watering finish.
loaded with berry fruit, cherries, cedar notes, nice chocolatey peppery spice notes, lovely acidity and low tannin balance of a wine. this would be good with cheese!
Light red color on the pour. Comes out of the doors running with big plum and strawberry fruit teeming with acidity that dies out perhaps to quickly. Leaves your palate with a slight peppery taste but not much of a finish.
Perhaps this wine isn't for me. There was a fairly big, buttered popcorn aroma on the nose with tart red berry underlying. A bouquet of pomegranate, cranberry and briary red berry fruit along with some boysenberry notes. Also, wet stone. On the palate it's got screaming acid. Lots of tart red fruit and strong mineral. It's interesting. The amount of acidity was a turn off to me. Unbalanced. perhaps time will settle it down, but for now, I can't say I am a fan. 79 pts.
