Pouilly-Fumeacute; is located near Sancerre in the Loire Valley, where the white wines are made from Sauvignon Blanc. With bold notes of orange water and melon, itrsquo;s traditionally paired with fresh goat cheese.

Floral aromas mingle with the grapefruit, pineapple and wet gravel on the extremely expressive nose. On the palate, stony minerality, smoke and gunflint notes keep the fruit in check, and the lively and vibrant acidity makes for a truly refreshing, yet serious drink. The pairing potentials are limitless mdash; beyond classic shellfish dishes, try this with caprese salad or a chicken gyro. This wine is a consistent winner. After all, how can you go wrong with a wine that is served at the tables of the French Parliament?

Good intensity, with lemon and grapefruit notes backed by straw, herb and white peach. Really stretches out on the finish. Drink now through 2007.

Explosive, with grapefruit, citrus and subtle notes of stony minerality. Super clean and flavorful; the texture just pops in your mouth. Balanced, long juicy finish.

Quite lively, with a strong gooseberry note leading the way, followed by notes of thyme and lemon zest notes. Mouthwatering finish. Drink now.

This is the other famous Loire Sauvignon Blanc situated across the river from Sancerre and characterized by smoky flavor and minerality. Serve with goat cheese sole almondine or cheese soufflé.
