Howell Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 1994

Winemaker's Notes:

96 points Robert Parker: The 1994s might be ready to drink within 10-15 years. It is hard to believe these wines spend 30 months in oak casks before bottling as they are incredibly unevolved and backward when released. Look out for the behemoth 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain. This black/purple-colored wine adds a few more nuances (minerals, licorice, and floral scents) to the lavish display of creme de cassis. Full-bodied, with a blockbuster level of extract and density, this is an outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon for readers with patience, good genes for longevity, or the foresight to purchase it for their children. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2030. (Dec 1997)

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

The 1994s and 1995s are classic Dunn Cabernets, with perhaps the 1995 slightly softer than the 1994. Both vintages produced mountain-styled Cabernets that are dense, huge, and in need of a decade of cellaring. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Randy Dunn has been on a roll since the 1992 vintage. He appears to have hit the bull's eye with two massive, opaque black/purple-colored 1994s. The opaque, inky black/purple-colored 1994 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon possesses even more density... Robert Parker.
