Hourglass Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Sauvignon Wine 2003

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

Good ruby-red color. Exotic very ripe aromas of blackcurrant spices mint and roasted oak; slightly porty. Then fat sweet and round in the mouth gushing with dark berry black licorice and eucalyptus flavor. Finishes long and sweet with a bit of acidity yet to be integrated. 90 points Stephen Tanzers IWC.

After the exceptional success of the 2001 and 2002 I must confess to some disappointment with the 2003. It exhibits a good dark ruby/purple color as well as lovely floral black currant earth and toasty oak characteristics but it is short in the middle without sufficient follow through. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Supple and harmonious with rich elegant spicy black cherry and blackberry fruit that s very well-balanced for the vintage. Finishes with dry herbal tannins but also a push of juicy blackberry. Drink now through 2010. 700 cases made. JL Wine Spectator.
