External Reviews for Hosmer Riesling Finger Lakes Dry
A vivid white, with a racy core of anise and apple laced with fennel and jasmine notes. Therersquo;s nice cut through the finish. Drink now through 2013.
While redolent of jasmine blossoms and sweet orange marmalade, Hosmerrsquo;s dry Riesling is surprisingly austere on the palate with hints of fresh fennel fronds and a gripping lemon acidity. A good match for heavier, savory fare like braised pork belly, it finishes on a pleasantly bitter citrus-pith note.
This racy Riesling has an intriguing herbal scent of rosemary that melds with flavors of tangerine and orange oil. Its lean, fine-boned texture suggests a good pairing with oven roasted trout.
Forward, with apple and green melon notes backed by a good, crisp finish. A good introduction to the varietal and region.
Just a shade off-dry, Hosmerrsquo;s Dry Riesling boasts pleasant fresh apple and pear flavors embellished with a pronounced layer of smoke and spice on the nose and palate. Fresh and clean with a bright, lemony acidity.
Charming orange peel fruit opens this dry Riesling that boasts just a bit more heft than usual for the region as well as a lip-smakingly crisp finish. Serve with grilled calamari or octopus.
The complex, seductive nose promises a bit more than the palate delivers. Nonetheless, there is good complexity and a moderately long, if somewhat watery, finish. The slight residual sugar will make this a good choice with drier Asian dishes. Drink now.
