Horse Heaven Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2012
Editorial Reviews for Horse Heaven Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
A fairly fruity style with typical notes of almost minty cut grass, nettle, kiwi, and mineral tones - fruity in the mouth with a nice richness, plenty of zesty tropical fruits here, kiwi, lime, and a hint of guava, decent balance, all around solid showing, very clean finish is a bit short 85pts
Great aromas! Pear, honeysuckle and grapefruit. Good acid profile and really nice flavor. 90 pts. 8/12/11
I noted the color is pale straw with a hint of yellow gold. On the nose it has a light fresh aroma like newly cut grass. It’s clean with hints of melon, mild citrus, granny smith apples and fresh herbal notes. At first taste it is slightly sharp on the tongue with a mild bite and absolutely bursts with tropical fruits on the palate – a delightful surprise. The finish is beautiful long, crisp and luscious. If you like a clean, sharp, fresh Sauvignon Blanc you will really like this wine. I would pair with smoked salmon or oysters. In fact, I think it would pair fabulously with oysters. I must try it!
Crisp, citrus, pear, green apple. Very good.
Nicely sweet and acidic with orange, melon and lemon flavors. Great long finish with a bit of spice. Really nice wine.
The nose has a rich peachy aroma, with a mineral mouth that sits well, a touch of sweetness, more peaches on the finish. There is some vanilla and cherry as well. Well composed and eager to please.
I really enjoyed this one! Lemon color in the glass and highly aromatic with honeysuckle and other flowers. Powerful flavor, crisp and elegant. Lots of peach and apricot, with hints of pineapple and orange. Nice complexity for a sauv blanc, perfectly balanced and lingering finish. Highly recommended! - Schreiner's Winers "Springtime Sauvignon Blanc" Tasting 3/12/10

Pale straw-yellow color. Precise aromas of lemon, pineapple and grapefruit. Boasts a rather glyceral texture but with lovely lemony cut, an element of wild herbs and crisp acidity giving the wine very good inner-mouth lift. The persistent finish features saline and lemony nuances.
Coming from the warm 2012 vintage, the notes vary from stone fruit, such as apricot, into tropical with dried pineapple. Aged in a mixture of stainless steel and older French oak barrels, it’s fresh and appealing while also displaying some weight and density, drinking quite dry with a tart finish.
Bright, vibrant, expressive and juicy, with quince, pear, floral and spice flavors that dance through the long finish. Drink now.
