What to Expect

California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

Winemakers Notes

Blackberry, cherry and plum fruit aromas and flavors are accented by vanilla, allspice and cocoa. The richly textured mid-palate is balanced by medium tannins and a lengthy finish.

Strong dark fruit nose was amazing. Good on the palette, and great cocoa finish make this a wine we will buy again.

Great value in Napa Cabs. Lots of dark fruit in nose and taste balanced with tannins and acid.

Nick's Pick! Great Party Wine! Approachable fruit with lots of black cherry appeal. Structured oak backbone, robust body, nice continuity and decent length with a dry finish. Marries perfectly with steak. Just be sure this bottle stays at your end of the table!

Somehow Honig's well-made, organic Napa wines have managed to stay under the radar, but this Cabernet is certainly worth discovering: it has a deep, ruby-red color and a complex bouquet. On the palate, we got flavors of black cherry, cocoa, spice, and green tea. This is aged for 20 months in American oak barrels, only 30% of which are new. Well-balanced and well-structured.

Tasting Notes - Vibrant ripe red fruit aromas, framed by spice, vanilla and tea. Round and supple on the palate, finishing with lengthy, rich cocoa power tannins.

Winemaker's Notes - Vibrant ripe red fruit aromas, framed by spice, vanilla and tea. Round and supple on the palate, finishing with lengthy, rich cocoa power tannins. The fruit for this wine comes from both our sustainably farmed vineyard in Rutherford and from local Napa Valley vineyards. Each vineyard block was harvested and made into an individual lot representing that block. The wines were pressed off the skins from 10 to 23 days after crushing. Blending generally takes place between January and April of the year following harvest and the wine is aged for 18 months.
