Holdredge Pinot Noir Russian River 2010

External Review by Wine Gems @ Perriello's:

Russian River Valley, CaliforniaHoldredge Pinot Noir is a beautiful wine gem of Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley of Sonoma. Holdredge is a true Mom and Pop winery; all of the work is done by either John or Carri Holdredge. They have no employees, and their winery is in an old red barn that has housed wineries off and on since prohibition. John and Carri operate under two main beliefs: first, wine is made in the vineyard, not in the cellar, and second, that wine is better able to express the place where it is actually from when there is minimal intervention. Holdredge wines are elegant, balanced and nuanced, reflecting the individual vineyard's "voice" as John likes to call it. We enjoyed a memorable visit with them in September 2012 and loved both the two of them and their wines! Holdredge Pinot Noir is bright garnet red with a beautiful nose of red berries, spices and floral notes. It is an elegant Pinot with medium body, fresh acidity and impeccable balance, featuring flavors of black cherry, raspberry, mocha and black tea. The wine is long and pleasing on the finish.Enjoy Holdredge Pinot Noir with roast pork, grilled salmon, veal Milanese and aged cheeses.

Holdredge Wines:
Holdredge Wines is a small, family owned and operated winery in the Russian River Valley of Healdsburg, California. We produce only small lots from vineyards we feel reflect the quality and diversity of Sonoma County's appellations. We also grow Pinot Noir and Syrah in our family's vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Both our farming practices and our winemaking philosophy emphasize a personal, hand-crafted approach.
