Member Review by VegasOenophile:

Big sour cherry on the nose, with cedar and oak spice. ON the palate, loamy earth, dried berry, cherry and plum. Also mineral, gravel notes. Good acid balance, mild tannin. Stony red fruit with a tad sour finish. 87 pts. 1/5/13

The Buellton Hitching Post was established in 1986, but our roots started at the Casmalia Hitching Post in 1952. It was there that Frank & Natalie Ostini brought "Santa Maria Style BBQ" to its peak of perfection and where children Bill, Bob, Terri & Annette continue to this day. Here at the Hitching Post II in Buellton, we honor that tradition and also embrace the contemporary cooking styles. By combining the old and the new, we have created an exciting cuisine that is uniquely our own. Along with our outstanding steaks, ribs and chicken, we also serve items such as smoked duck breast, ostrich, home-made soups and outstanding pastries; along with what the Los Angeles Times has called the "best" French Fries in Southern California! Fantastic. Velvety with plum and cherry. Just lovely stuff. Deep, twisty, layered flavor and such a smooth finish.

This is a phenomenal bottle - very full and lush flavor, a pinot- for even non-pinot drinkers

Smooth, velvety, and earthy. Wonderful smokiness on the nose. Black pepper and a hint of black licorice on the palate. The finish is smooth with notes of nutmeg. This is an excellent Pinot Noir!

The Hitching Post team of Frank Ostini and Gray Hartley hit a home run on this Highliner, with a nose that features fried shiitake mushrooms, violet and sizzling balsamic vinegar. It boasts an elegant mouthfeel, with very round and widely expressive fruit, characterized by orange peel, olallieberry and more violet.

Brilliant ruby-red. Red berry liqueur, cherry and floral aromas are energized by a lively mineral flourish. Silky and seamless on the palate, offering spicy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter with air. Supple tannins build slowly and gain strength with air, adding shape to the long, red fruit-dominated finish. Extremely sexy and approachable now but this bottling also has a track record for aging well.

The 2005 Pinot Noir Highliner exhibits a dark ruby color, floral, black cherry, strawberry, earth, herb, and background oak aromas, medium body, excellent depth, good acidity, and ripe tannin. It should drink nicely for 7andndash;8 years.

I gave this wine several hours to open up before drinking. It was well worth waiting for! The wine is deep ruby red with floral and spice aromas. I thoroughly enjoyed the layers of cranberry, pomegranate and black cherry fruit, along with notes of white pepper and nutmeg. The finish is long and luscious. I drank the wine at cellar temperature (55andndash;60 degrees) and munched on some crackers with port wine cheese.

This is what I call a special occasion wine. Big fat juicy, spicy, smoky nose. Sweet fruit on your tongue. Seamless, flawless body, excellent, with plenty of stuffing for such a delicate grape. The holidays are coming!

The complex, elegant yet powerful 2004 Pinot Noir Highliner possesses a deep ruby/purple-tinged color, blue and black fruits, medium to full body, and a persistent, long, layered finish. Drink it over the next 7-10 years. ** Only 3 in Stock **
