Hinnant Family Vineyards Tarheel Red Rouge NV

Member Review by FreddyF:

My mother gave me this wine as a gift. I suspect she was trying to kill me. Sickeningly sweet high notes and cough syrup finish. Yuck. I'm also fairly certain that kira333 is either an employee or a close friend of the vineyard given the 10 five glass reviews for the various Hinnant family wines. Yabba dabba don't.

Winemaking has been a tradition for years at Hinnant Family Vineyards. Since the first vines went into the ground in 1971, the Hinnant Family has dedicated years to cultivating and maintaining the largest muscadine vineyard in North Carolina. Over the years, the Hinnants have been no strangers to amateur winemaking. But it was not until October of 2002 that the Hinnants started producing wine commercially. Father and son team, Willard and Bob Hinnant, made a dream a reality. With a lot of patience, many late hours at the winery, and a host of family and friends lending a hand whenever they could, Hinnant Family Vineyards has produced numerous award-winning wines throughout the U.S. The road to success has been, at best, long and grueling. With Willard and Bob both having other careers -- Willard being a dentist and Bob owning a dental lab - the switch from teeth to wine has been very interesting. Still, their dedication to the land, the vineyard, and the wines is longstanding and never ending. During our hours of operation, you can tour the vineyards & winery and feel at one at one with the land. The serene beauty of the vineyards is second to none. Located in Pine Level, NC (30 minutes east of Raleigh), the ease of the vineyard life is very appealing and quaint. So please come and enjoy the day with us: take a tour of the vineyards, browse around our gift shop and tasting room, or simply sit on our wrap-around porch and enjoy the afternoon with us at Hinnant Family Vineyards and Winery.
