What to Expect

Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. Packed with deep, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure. Its velvety texture makes Merlot instantly appealing and an obvious alternative to similar, more tannic Bordeaux varieties.

Winemakers Notes

Like our Cabernet Blend, Sonoma Valley is home to this Merlot and it boasts of those same prized Sonoma qualities. Drinkable upon release, this wine will soften and further develop with time in the cellar.Our Highway 12 Merlot provides a true Sonoma Valley experience. French oak barrel aging serves to complement the wine's fermented fruitiness and add subtle notes of oak and vanilla. Bold, ripe and delicately intense, this wine sets a lofty standard for Merlot.

Highway 12 has achieved a bold, ripe style with their 2005 Merlot.
