Hidden Ridge Vineyard Hidden Lot #1 2006
Hidden Ridge Vineyard is located at 1700' in the Mayacamas Mountains just west of Spring Mountain . Between Pride Mountain Winery and Fisher Vineyards in far eastern Sonoma County. Marco Di Giulio and Timothy Milos craft some of the best California Cabernet Sauvignon from our mountain grown grapes. Hidden Ridge produces 1 or 2 single vineyard wines each year
Mild peppery and chalky nose, with a rich underlying wetness. The mouth is a bit green, with vibrant fruit flavors, apple, lychee, chocolate, and tobacco. Very interesting but the acids/tannins seem kind of unbalanced.
Chalky, chocolate aromas. A luscious, juicy red wine. Good spice, acidity and a zesty kick to this one. Tastes like a chocolate covered strawberry.
a lovely earthiness, varying dark fruit, and mushrooms, amazing concentration of fruit levels, nice complexity and berry fruit palate with currants, cassis, cocoa, dark chocolate, nice spice flavors coarsing through this full bodied wonderful wine
Fresh vibrant black cherry nose with a spiced kick. A fruit bomb with good balance. Soft delicate oak and mild eucalyptus take a back seat to the star of the show - the bright ripe fruit. Slightly chalky complex finish. Lots of fun.
So, it turns out I'm in love with Hidden Ridge Slope Cabernet Sauvignon. I know. It just happened, but it's the real thing. The 2006 is softer, more subtle than the 2005, and very nearly its mirror image: more striking fruit up front; dusty, clinging, dark chocolate on the end. Spicy throughout. Hey, Hidden Ridge? Til death do us part.
