What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Winemakers Notes

2006 Sultry Red
An attractive blend of knock-your-socks-off charisma,
this Hey Mambo Sultry Red is hands-down a rare
beauty. Our 2006 vintage is a blend of Barbera,
Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Carignane and Alicante
Bouchet grapes. The color of garnet-dyed satin, this wine
opens with aromas reminiscent of an old-fashioned five
and dime, chocolate granache, red raspberries, cloves
and sweet leather. Enticing scents are satisfied by
indulging flavors. Blackberry cobbler, holiday plum
sauce, espresso, and decadent chocolate read more...

I can't remember the last wine that I had under $10 that was this good. A sultry blend of Barbera, Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Carignane, and Alicante Bouchet, it's luscious. Very fruit forward and easy-drinking (13.5% ABV). Silky tannins give it structure, but don't age this one for long. It's meant to be drunk now, and happily so.

It is a blend of a crap load of grapes (barbera, zinfandel, syrah, petite sirah, carigname, & alicante bouchet). It's spicy, just like something called "Hey Mambo" should be. Plenty of pepper and a smooth finish.

The color of garnet-dyed velvet, this wine has aromas reminiscent of an old-fashioned soda shop, fresh baked cherry pie, rootbeer, pipe tobacco, caramel, and vanilla. This sultry red has intensity and depth, with flavors of pomegranate, black cherry,
