Winemakers Notes

Domaine Impérial Hetszolo, founded in 1502 and spreading over 45 ha vineyard, is the oldest and the most famous estate in Tokaj, a small Hungarian village located in the southern part of the appellation. The soil of this region is loess which covers only 10% of the Tokaj appellation. The rest is made of clay with a subsoil of volcanic rock. A micro-climate and a unique soil enables the Domaine Impérial Hetszolo wines to be traditional ‘Grand Cru d’Aszu’ with less acidity, a good balance and read more...

Honey and raisin nose, very good acidity. This is a thick syrupy wine. Surprisingly tart finish. Served with a basil and olive oil cake (ok), followed by chocolate cake (awesome!)
