Hess Select Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Wine Tasting Notes The 2008 Lake County Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of Clone 1 and Musque clone. In order to preserve the crisp acidity and expressive aromatics, some lots were fermented in stainless steel tanks, while others were fermented in neutral oak barrels to lend a pleasant weight to the mid-palate. White peach, pineapple and ambrosia melon in the nose lead into more traditional varietal characters of gooseberry and lemongrass. Enjoy as an aperitif or with chicken in a lemon-caper sauce.
Editorial Reviews for Hess Select Sauvignon Blanc
Delicately citrus and pink grapefruit and grassy toned on the nose with real Sauvignon Blanc character and a lightly dusty mineral tone. Very bright in the mouth with a touch of sweetness up front balanced by very vibrant acids. Decidedly big fruity in the mouth with sweet pink grapefruit and peach tones with sweet herbal notes on the finish that have very little follow through. Short and sweet. 85pts
floral and sweet on the nose with a key lime pie/ lemon custard edge to the fruit, , quite floral, very focused in the mouth with moderately rich flavors of nectarine, pink grapefruit and a creamy touch. A touch of herb and mineral pops on the moderately long finish. A fairly large scaled SB that remains balanced and fresh, bay leaf on the backend 91pts
