What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Reviews

Color: Brilliant medium yellow, green tint. Aromas: Ripe tropical fruits of pineapple, mango and passion fruit. The second layer has banana, pear, lemon and toasty oak. Flavors: Ripe red apples, melon and guava. Peach, apricot and toast follow with nuances of butter, honey and spice. The mid-palate is full and has a coating texture. Finish: Clean, crisp and lingering sensation of ripe fruits.

Hess produces consistently good wines, and this vintage is no exception. We discovered a traditional Chardonnay with green apples and pear in the aroma. It is well-balanced and round in the mouth, and it had a pretty finish with hints of honey and pear. Detroit News, April, 1999.
