Food Pairings for Hess Select Cabernet Sauvignon
Fruity nose, with a bit of rose on the nose as well. Tastes earthy, tannic, but a very dry, uninteresting finish. A little spice on the finish as well.
A little bit of beef jerky on the nose, some red fruit, leather and clove. Molasses and tar flavors. A very interesting wine.
A beautiful deep ruby color with a nose full of deep blackberry and rose-infused aromas. Sophistication is the name of the game here, with some serious tannins and solid leather notes. A perfect companion to any red meat dish.
Sweet with a little bit of dryness. Very soft finish. A bit spicy, tastes of concentrated fruit. I imagine it would be great with a cheesy pasta dish.
Plums, cherries, slightly medicinal nose. Bit of a spicy, hot finish. I think I'd enjoy this more with some food that would help balance/mitigate some of the spice.
Deep smokey caramel nose. Very heavy and smokey body with a hint of oak. The finish was very quiet with a bit of spice.
Cherry fruit with hints of rose on the nose. I love the way the fruit and earthiness come through on the palate.

Juicy and filled with fruity flavors, with lots of blackberry, cherry and ripe currant flavors. The tannins are on the rugged side, with jagged edges, but this is a pretty nice sip.
Minty and ripe, with black cherry and chocolate flavors that carry through the firm tannins of the finish. Drink now through 2006.
Fruit forward with ripe black cherry and spicy hints of mint and bay leaves. Aged for only about 12 months in 25% new French oak, the wine is free to express purity of fruit without becoming overladen with the vanilla so typical of many California Cabernets.
Smooth, rich and concentrated, a seamless effort, with ripe cherry, currant, anise and herbal notes that are well-focused and long and complex on the finish. Drink now through 2005.
Muscular, with characteristic cassis, cherry-chocolate and spicebox notes. A consistent show-stopper, well-suited to a variety of red meat dishes.

A very nice, elegant and clean Cab that shows plenty of coastal climate balance. Fully dry, it has oak-accented flavors of blackberries, currants, mocha and spice. Good buy at this fair price.
