Hess Estate produces top rated Cabernets for their Hess Collection line from their 300 plus acres of vineyards on Mt. Veeder in Napa Valley. This wine is unique to the Collection as it is a meritage style blend of 6 different grape varieties, all sourced from their Veeder Summit Vineyard on the very top of the mountain. Nineteen individual blocks from this 116 acre vineyard are vinified separately and then blended together to showcase the quality, character and diversity that Mt. Veeder fruit can express. The blend is 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Malbec, 4% Syrah, 4% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot aged 16 months in French oak. The 2006 scored 92 points. We're waiting to see what this 2007, an extraordinary vintage, will achieve.
Winemaker's notes: 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Malbec, 4% Syrah, 4% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot. The 2007 19 Block Cuve is Cabernet Sauvignon-based layered with Malbec, Merlot and Syrah to produce a wine with pronounced fruit characteristics. It has aromas of plum and black currant intermingled with caramel and molasses. The silky entry melts into an ultra-rich core of dark fruit. A supple finish is testament to this wines immediate approachability.
