What to Expect

Cabernet Franc, along with Sauvignon Blanc, is a parent of the more famous Cabernet Sauvignon. Quite similar in many ways to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc tends to have higher acid and lighter tannins than its offspring, with fruit in the redder end of the spectrum and a distinctive, aggressive herbal note that can dominate the wine's aromas.

Winemakers Notes

Wine Characteristics

While the varieties used in Eclipse are the same varieties traditionally used in Bordeaux style blends, we feel our wine drinks more like a Loire Valley red or northern Italian red. The fruit is bright, the body is medium weight and the acidity is poised to really enhance great food instead of being too overpowering with excessive alcohol or new oak.

Food Pairings

This is a good everyday wine that works with a range of foods from pizza to herb encrusted lamb. This is a red that, although not a Pinot Noir, could pair well with salmon. Serve at 65° read more...

Reviews

The Bordeaux style blend is soft and silky in the mouth with essence of cherry on the finish. Great with food yet excellent on its own; an "everyday" wine.

My favorite NY State wine, being from that area. This is a bordeaux style blend, medium bodied, dry red that reminds me of the Italian reds that I love so much.

So dark and lush, but not to dry and tart to ward off people who don't like red wines for those reasons.

This is a Meritage wine meaning that it's made from a blend of grape varieties in the image of Bordeaux. Essentially, this is a blend of equal parts Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This is a a lighter-styled, dry red wine with incredibly easy-drinking berry fruits and super soft tannins.
