Hermitage Blanc Jl Chave 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"As for the 2010 Hermitage Blanc, it is an exquisite wine with fabulous fruit intensity. Lots of acacia flower, anise, quince, fig and pineapple intermixed with a hint of white peaches emerge from this well-delineated, full-bodied, enormously endowed, complex, dry white Hermitage. This wine lives up to the reputation bestowed on it by President Thomas Jefferson when he said in the 1780s that white Hermitages were France’s greatest white wine...97" WA 12/12 "Tasted in components: #1, from Peleat: Bright and stony, with sappy pear and orange flavors and a subtle hazelnut nuance. Shows bright minerality and excellent finishing cut. #2, from Rocoules: Richer and more pungent, offering smoky scents and flavors of poached pear, nectarine and chamomile, with an iodine topnote. Incisive, mineral-dominated and very persistent on the finish, showing a sexy floral quality. #3, from L'Hermite: Intense, mineral-accented aromas of pear skin, peach and toasted nuts, with a truffley overtone. Rich and expansive, with deep orchard and pit fruit flavors and a bracing note of bitter orange pith. Closes with superb power and thrust, the truffle and orange notes repeating. The ultimate wine should be outstanding, with a suave blend of richness and mineral-driven intensity. It should also age effortlessly...95-97" 05/12
