Hermann J. Wiemer Riesling Dry 2008

An appealing off-dry style, with quince, green plum and fig flavors and a juicy, open-knit finish. Drink now.

This has a slightly off-dry feel, with tasty green apple and pear notes backed by a slate- and floral-tinged finish. Flattering but balanced. Drink now through 2011.

An exceptionally smooth, pleasant wine in true Spätlese style. Great nose of nectarine, sweet grapefruits, pineapple and a touch of nuts. On the palate, an overtone of minerality surrounds rich tropical flavors of mango and pineapple. Finishes on a stony note.

Floral and honey aromas are intriguing, and follow through on the vibrant palate with attractive peach and lime flavors. It's firm, delicate and nicely balanced. A great-value Riesling.

Wiemer always makes beautifully expressive riesling, and this vintage is no exception. The 2003 Semi-Dry is delicate and flowery-scented, with strawberry and peach flavors. A beam of juicy acidity offsets the sweetness and keeps the palate refreshed. Cheers to Wiemer, a German winemaking family whose more than 300 years of experience has certainly influenced the Finger Lakes' level of quality for the better!

This heady reserve leads with complex aromas of apple blossoms, hints of vanillin and caramel. Its flavors are fine and long, with an herbaceous top notes that accents the ripe pear fruit. Its finish is persistent and fine, for rosemary-roasted veal loin.
