Riesling-obsessed connoisseurs know how important Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard's pioneering work is to wine. Hermann, born in Germany with an extensive wine family background, discovered the Finger Lakes in the 1960's, and its cool climate and gravelly soil reminded him of the Mosel Valley. Realizing the untapped potential of the Finger Lakes region, he started to grow classic European vines along selected sites on one of the most prominent properties in the Finger Lakes. Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard estate grown wines are established from traditions of excellence and have a reputation for being exceptionally lush, crisp and well balanced. Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard is founded on the philosophy of quality and hand crafted wines. Located on the shores of Seneca Lake, the well drained sloping shalestone bedrock and Honeoye silt loam soil lend itself to the production of what critics consider to be some of the best grown Rieslings in America. Very light fruity young Pinot. Nothing like its brethren from the West Coast, but absolutely PERFECT as a pairing a fish meal. The acid is quite prominent especially as it lingers in the mouth. Would buy for another fish dinner in a heart beat.

Tasting Notes:

Stunning ruby red Pinot with rich black cherry notes. Maturation in oak barrels helped soften the tannins to provide a more delicate approach to the palate.
