The grapes are hand-harvested from a vineyard covering 27ha of free draining schist soil, and the fermentation process occurred under controlled temperature in small tanks where the grapes are crushed using traditional methods.The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 7 months.

This is a Gold Medal Wine Club selection. A deeply concentrated red wine, Malhadinha Nova’s 2007 Monte Da Peceguina was produced from the Alentejo region of Portugal. In Alentejo some of the best wines are still pressed by foot, even at wineries such as Malhadinha Nova, that are equipped with the latest scientific winemaking equipment. Full bodied and marked with aromas of intense red fruit, plum and blackberry with exuberant notes of chocolate and coffee, the 2007 Monte Da Peceguina is a distinct wine characterized by its fresh fruit and elegance of smooth tannins. The wine’s vibrant red fruit flavors lead into a long, soft and persistent finish that’s marked with chocolate and velvet. Try pairing with herbed pastas, roast chicken, and grilled steaks.

Monte da Peceguina is a dark red / purple colour. There are aromas of concentrated red fruit and exuberant coffee / chocolate notes. The palate is characterised by further red fruits with supple, elegant tannins. The finish is persistant and there is a velvety mouthfeel. One of the new stars of the Alentejo.
