Smooth, supple and generous with its red cherry, raspberry and red bell pepper flavors. An aromatic red that keeps singing through the juicy, slightly hot finish. Drink now through 2012.
The 2003 Shiraz Reserve, which I assume is made from the richest barrels, has all the same characteristics, with more weight, opulence, and persistence. The 16% alcohol is beautifully concealed by its prodigious concentration. Readers who love the extroverted personalities of these wild and crazy Australian reds should drink it over the next 10-12 years.
A dramatic wine, rich and spicy, almost Port-like, with exotic spices, bitter chocolate and black pepper notes mingling with ripe currant and plum flavors as they persist on a big finish. Drink now through 2007.
From a cooler climate sector of Padthaway, the 2004 Shiraz Reserve is an elegant, soft, complex effort revealing Southern Rhone-like aromas of garrigue, ground pepper, and spice box interwoven with blackberries, cassis, sweet cherries, and herbal undertones. This wild, rich, heady Shiraz tips the scales at 16% alcohol. Drink this provocative, undeniably pleasurable 2004 over the next 7ndash;8 years.
