Henry of Pelham Baco Noir 2007

Member Review by SteffenLT:

Intense black color with blue fringes. A foreword aroma of scorched earth followed by dark berry compote. Distinctively layered flavour of initial tobacco, then blackberry and tart black current. Robust dark berry wine, medium tannins, heavy body, medium sweet. Bought at Crowfoot Liq. Aug 2010, $17

Anyone who knows me, knows how I feel about Niagararsquo;s wines. Hugh Johnson, a famous wine author and expert, agrees with me. On a recent helicopter tour over our region, he said, ldquo;Yes, I see it, itrsquo;s the worldrsquo;s next great wine region. Itrsquo;s perfect.rdquo; Hersquo;s right, and our friends over the border are well on their way. This wine is a prime example of the very best Ontario has to offer as far as everyday, moderately priced wines go. A robust, flavorful accomplishment with the complexity of American oak aging and a dynamic balance. A super match with grilled fare or lamb. Oh yeah, and its cheap too. Of course, we wouldnrsquo;t mind if you wanted to pay $55.00 for their world class ice wine.

A hearty wine made with the serious red wine lover in mind. Offering a deep, complex mixture of saddle leather, oak and spice, it will be the perfect accompaniment to your next barbecue.
