Henri Bourgeois Sancerre la Côte des Monts Damnés 2016

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Really very attractive on the nose with nicely layered roasted green chiles, a hint of jalapeno, cut grass ands sweet lemon and lime aromas. In the mouth this displays big acids up front supporting fresh and nuanced flavors of grapefruit and guava with some of the green herbal qualities emerging aromatically in the mouth. the texture is medium full bodied but rather seamless with a hint of austerity asserting itself on the backend as this flashes a hint of peach leading a moderately long and well focused finish. 89pts

Domaine Henri Bourgeois:
White Sancerre LE CHÊNE SAINT-ETIENNE Brilliant golden yellow, it glisten by his sheen. The nose is powerful and very aromatic with notes of very ripe yellow fruits (even tropical fruits), vanilla and spices! The palate is round, full and powerful yet well-balanced. Serve this wine with great fish dishes or, even better, a “Côte de Veau Crémeuse aux Langoustines et Marjolaine” (veal cutlet with a langoustine and marjoram cream sauce). Red Sancerre LE CHÊNE SAINT-ETIENNE Bright garnet with red tints. A genuine basket of red and black fruits with hints of game and spice. On the palate, its ampleness and structure are surprising and the tannins are very well assimilated. Serve it with a beef tournedos with chanterelle mushroom even a few small games with red fruits. The trees of the “district of Saint-Etienne” have a fine and dense texture, owing to their slow and steady growth. Its characteristics were more especially imprinted in the Saint-Etienne oak tree due to its great age. In contact with this unique wood, the wine started a slow oxidation through the staves. The tannins given by the “oak” are of great finesse, become united in the greatest harmony to the precious liquid and awards wooden flavours of an unequalled softness. Read less

Awesome blend of Cab Sauv and the mythical Carmenere from Chile. Maybe my best value wine ever. Super smooth and complex beyond my descriptive abilities but theres some chocolately/vanilla/butterscotch flavs happening here that made it perfect with the dark chocolate we had on the boat after a sail on the Gulf of Mexico. Cheers!

An absolute adventure of smooth and dark combinations. Something new! Very, very special, has to be learned a bit. Choose it´s place on the tounge with care. Butterscotch. Overripe cherries hiding in a smoky leather darkness. Burnt vanilla. Best value I have bought.

The 2012 Malbec Uco Valley is a 4,000-case cuvee aged nine months in French oak, of which 10% was new. A beautiful, full-bodied, seriously endowed Malbec, it possesses a dense purple color along with a sweet bouquet of blueberry and black raspberry fruit interwoven with camphor, licorice and spring flowers as well as a touch of oak. This wonderfully endowed, full-bodied, classic Argentina Malbec should drink nicely for 5–6 years.

WE 90pts. - Winemaker Notes - Very powerful. To the palate it is refreshingly crisp, sparkling, soft and sumptuous, showing great complexity of tropical fruits with citric accents. Its high acidity and low pH contribute to the impressive overall freshness and high minerality.
