Hennessy Black Cognac NV

Winemaker's Notes:

Color: Pale gold. Aromas: Elegance, floral flight and distinctive finesse are all words immediately associated with Hennessy Black, a scented highly versatile cognac, devised and blended with the intention of creating a reference for mixing. Hennessy Black advances its freshness and notes of spring flowers - jasmine, daffodils and orange blossom - combining them with touches of citrus fruit, honey and fresh grapes. Blend: Hennessy Black draws its versatility from the initial potential of the very select eaux-de-vie that compose it and which, moreover, are far more difficult to find requiring all the Master Blender's know-how to be singled out. Hennessy Black blends from 35 to 45 of them accomplishing exquisite balance. The optimum volume of alcohol for this blending, identified as 43%, allows a more assertive revelation of Hennessy Black's fine fresh notes giving it a strong thrust of opening aromas as well as a superb flight of floral tastes.

The world’s largest and possibly most recognizable Cognac brandy producer was established by Irish entrepreneur Richard Hennessy in the late 18th century. Hennessy served in the French army for 12 years to gain citizenship, and it is for this reason that the “bras armé” is the official symbol of the brand. Jean Fillioux was hired as the first master blender in 1786. The brandy is produced within the four main regions of Cognac, France: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fins Bois, and is a blend of Cognacs produced and barrelled by independent growers and distillers. The brand boasts the largest Cognac aging facility, with the capacity to age and store a quarter million casks. Moët Champagne acquired the brand in 1971 to become the Moët Hennessy Group. Hennessy is considered a luxury brand, with a recent popularity among celebrities and followers of the hip-hop music scene. New marketing efforts have expanded the brand offerings to include Pure White (an unaged release), Hennessy Black (a young release produced as a cocktail mixer), and Fine de Cognac (a VSOP blend).  Read less

Hennessy Black is a new highly versatile, decidedly different cognac. This exciting new distinctively smooth blend allows consumers more ways to enjoy Hennessy and tastes great on its own or mixed.
