Helioterra Red Mountain Mourvédre 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

Mourvédre is a dense, opulent grape only now starting to get its due. Though originally and traditionally used as a blending wine, Mourvédre has recently stepped into the single-varietal spotlight as an intensely perfumed and flavored gem. Our version starts savory, with aromas of Herb de Provence, sunbaked dirt, vintage wood, and black pepper. The palate is full of dusky sweets, including blackberry, gooseberry, currant, and dark chocolate, with a trace of smoke. Layered, mouth-filling tannins provide a nice structure for this powerful red.

Helio and Terra combine the Greek words for sun and earth, natural partners for grape growing. Read less
