Very powerful wine, but still manages to maintain balance. Price is right for napa, but in my opinion the whole valley is overrates, so its a little overpriced for me.
What I bought was 2004. It was $67. good wine.
Drank the '01 last night after airing it out for about one hour - with Grilled Strips. Much better than expected! WS version of a rating in my book would be a 91-93.

The 2001 Trailside Vineyard Cabernet is a spectacular, densely hued wine combining the impressive characteristics of its Rutherford terroir with the power of the vintage. A glorious burst of sun ripened blackberry with notes of cedar fascinates the nose and fills the mouth with a stunning purity that unfolds in layers of intrigue. This Cabernet is skillfully balanced with polished tannins that usher the rich varietal flavors to a lengthy and unforgettable finish. This classic wine will age gracefully. - Winery
This was a spectacular performance from this hallowed vineyard as well as one of Napa Valleyandrsquo;s great historic terroirs. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it reveals a still youthful personality and will benefit from another 5andndash;7 years of bottle age. An opaque purple color is followed by aromas of graphite, creme de cassis, flowers and background earth as well as spice. The old eucalyptus-filled aromatics of a young Marthaandrsquo;s Vineyard are nowhere to be found as the 2001 is dominated by fruit and earth. Full-bodied and powerful with superb integration of wood, tannin, acidity and alcohol, this large-scaled red is capable of three or more decades of cellaring. It is unquestionably a youthful classic, but it requires patience from its owners. Anticipated maturity: 2016andndash;2035.
In the early 1980s, the Heitz Family acquired the Trailside vineyard. Compared to Heitz's other single vineyards, this bottle is considered the most robust and powerful style with bold fruit and assertive but upfront use of new oak.
