Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Martha's Vineyard(1997)

The 1997 Napa Valley Cabernet immediately impresses you with its overall balance and richness. The wine is quite drinkable now with a soft, rich silkiness on the palate. The youthful fruit flavors are delightful throughout and add an extra dimension to the sophistication of this wine. The 1997 vintage was a stellar vintage in the Napa Valley and this Cabernet is definitely a reflection of that quality.

Showing some aromatic evolution and freshness, this iconic wine from a stellar vintage is very serious. Weighty yet stylish, it has flavours of coffee and blackcurrant pastilles, and still youthful tannins. Very good wine but nowhere near its peak yet.

Heitz Cellars receives the entire production from the famed vineyard in Oakville for its limited edition of vineyard designated Cabernet Sauvignon. Its distinctive minty, characteristics, rich flavors, and overall balance have made it one of the most identifiable Cabernet Sauvignons in the world, and one of the most sought after. To add to its overall complexities, the 100 percent varietal Cabernet is aged for a year in American oak tanks and two and a half years in French limousin oak barrels.
