Heggies Vineyard Chardonnay 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

A wine that truly bears the stamp of this exceptional vineyard. Close-planted Burgundian Chardonnay clones form the backbone of the Heggies Chardonnay style and create an extremely low-yielding viticultural environment that rewards with exceptional fruit quality. Natural fermentation in French oak; handling and partial malolactic fermentation adds to the individuality of the wine and its potential to further age gracefully in the bottle.Edited from Winery Website

Planting began in 1971 on the tough North Eastern corner of the property and the first wine was released in 1979. It was the first wine to bear the idiosyncratic label that features a drawing of Colin Heggie, the bushman, looking out over the fledgling Heggies plantings astride his faithful chestnut, Jack. Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
