A minty cabernet for a mutton chop, this is lean and finely textured. Its strawberry and licorice flavors show some greenness in the tannins, but the wine feels juicy and clean.

Heartland’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of fruit from Limestone Coast and Langhorne Creek, spending 12 months in seasoned French and American oak. Giving a medium-deep garnet-purple color, it has an intensely minty nose with an undercurrent of warm black cherries and blackcurrant. This vibrant, fruit forward, full bodied Cab has a solid backbone of crisp acid, firm chewy tannins and a long finish. Drink it over the next 5–6 years.
